One of the biggest health care issues today is OBESITY which leads to cardiovascular disease, diabetes and hypertension. But don't fool yourselves just because a person is thin does not mean they are healthy. I see more and more skinny people eating horrible! Candy everyday, fast food, sugary drinks. It drives me nuts. These foods have no nutritional value. We really need to educate children and parents. People need to be aware of what they are eating and how it affects them because we are what we eat now a days. Even when you think your eating healthy, Internet adds on your mail come out with top 10 healthy foods that aren't really that healthy. What? They talk about the chemicals that are put on the crops of apples and other fruits and vegetables and how you can get cancer. I dunno I think I'll take my chances eating healthy rather then putting junk into my body. Eating fresh fruits and veggies is as hard as it is with pricing. Now you want us to go all organic. It would be great but doesn't everyone have the money to spend on fresh fruits and veggie? The government needs to make these items more affordable.
If you truly think about healthy eating, everything in moderation and think about what people lived off of before hunting let alone processed foods, cookies, cake and fast food. YOU DON'T NEED IT!
Then to top it off we are less active then ever. Children do not even know how to "play" without video games. Parents need to take away the electronic babysitters and play with the kids out side! The best part of having kids should be to play with them and have fun! Why not do it? It's not only exercises for the kids but exercise for you!
How can we push these topics as teachers? It is very important!

I'm really excited! I'm hoppin to work with the girls basketball team next year as a volunteer. I want to learn coaching stragety, making plays etc. I am hopping I will get to train a few girls over the season and keep them in shape for the up comming season. Even though it seems so far away it is very important to stay in shape and during pre season do sport performance training. Well hopefully everything will work out! I would love to be a apart of a SRU women's sport.

What qualities are schools looking for to higher new Physical Education teachers?
I'm curious to know what school's are look for in their physical education teachers now a days? For instance, do I have a better chance of getting a position because I have a degree in Exercise Science and will have a degree in Physical Education and Health? Also, I have a lot of experience working with children? How do they want program's to be taught? I know we are getting away from game play but other people feel it is important to teach team work, strategies and good sportsmanship. Are programs being put together to incorporate both game play but also exercise programs. I know a lot of teachers are incorporating leisure life long activities that we can do in our 40's and 60's, like yoga, pilates or golf.

Why aren't kids taking Phys Ed everyday?
With today's increased obesity in children, why is phys ed and health being cut out of schools? Schools should be more interested in hiring new teachers who can create a well develop P.E. Class that will keep the kids active for 30 minutes. Or for existing teachers, they should have them take a few classes or seminars on how to create a more active class room without sports. Physchial Education should not be cut from schools, this may be the only time in some of these kids life to be active or ever learn about health and exercise. I think if we could make it a more exercise based class then sports skills, we would see better results. How can we keep Physical education programs and make people see why they are important?
